The 10th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit returned to physical event last October 20 to 21, 2022 in the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City. Organized by the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines, the main focus of this momentous event is to support the newly created Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act which puts the country as one of the players in the global scene seriously pushing to switch to using electric vehicles.

To-Jo Motors participated in this event showcasing multiple vehicles, including the launch of the 2023 model of their modern jeepney, the MANDARAGIT PUV CLASS 2. All the models showcased are as follows:

MANDARAGIT PUV Class 2 – now equipped with more power, using 25KW and 30kWh lithium battery power, for longer range and traversing higher, steeper roads. Available on the road for modern jeepney fleet operation in mid-2023.

FLexible Electric Van – in partnership with De La Salle University and funded by DOST-PCIEERD, the Flexible Electric Van (FLEV) had its first public viewing in the EV Summit.

The Department of Science and Technology- Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) and the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) launched two units of Electric Jeepneys in Alabang Country Club on May 3, 2022. The event was graced by the DOST Secretary Fortunato dela Peña together with PCIEERD Executive Director Dr. Enrico Paringit, EVAP Chairman Emeritus Ferdie Raquelsantos, EVAP President Edmund Araga, and EVAP Executive Director Dr. Manny Biona, together with Brgy. Alabang Council and the media. To-Jo Motors Corp. was represented by its Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Evan Quinay.

To-Jo Motors was selected as the manufacturing partner of EVAP in the development of the two prototype units. The prototyping started in 2020 but due to the pandemic, was only completed in 2021. The electric jeepneys adhere to the Philippine National Standard for PUV Modernization Program Class 2 category. It uses lithium batteries as main power source. The capacity of the e-jeeps is 23 passengers, with seating and standing combined.

The electric jeepneys are currently doing continuous road testing in Alabang, supervised by EVAP.
